What It’s Like to Be Married - Day 2

November 24th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Honolulu Advertiser Posts, Random

I’m going to make a prediction and say that day 2 of being married is just splendid. Yes, I’m queueing this one up in advance, before I’m actually married. Take that Nostradamus. *grin*

Well, we’re getting down to the nitty gritty and it’s about that time to leave the house to head for the hotel. Shmall kine jitters, but it’ll be fun. I’m just hoping that dang flash flood warning will hold up, or not show its face at all for one day… *sigh* Oh well, it’s out of our control at this point. Alls I know is that I’m looking forward to this once-in-a-lifetime, life changing event…

Back to predictions… “Today,” we are running around and making our last minute preparations before heading off to tha muthaland “tomorrow”. We will be running a bunch of loose end errands (e.g. going to the bank, buying omiyage, packing our suitcases, etc.) and then relaxing on day 2 as husband and wife. I still can’t believe my new title is “husband”. Holy cow!

OK, fo-real-fo-real now… I’m outs! You just can’t get rid of me eh? LOL! Sorry, my editor said that I will be in the papah today, so you know I had to future-post for all y’all! See ya! :)

Corny Wedding Jokes

November 18th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Events, Honolulu Advertiser Posts, Jokes

If you’ve suffered through as many drunken uncle wedding jokes as I have, you’ve probably heard this one before. In fact, if you’re anything like me, you’ve probably rolled your eyes and finished all of uncle-bruddah’s sentences for him as soon as they started to deliver the joke. If you’re not up to speed on wedding jokes, please enjoy this one from the rest of us… ;)

In marriage, there are three rings: 1) The Engagement Ring, 2) The Wedding Ring, and… 3) SuffeRING! [insert charity laughter here]

What other corny jokes (or happenings in general) at weddings make your eyes roll. I don’t think we’ve made any of these mistakes in planning our day’s events, but you never know. Any last minute tips can’t hurt right? :)

Hope errone’s week is going good so far!

Funny First Dance Videos

November 17th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Events, Honolulu Advertiser Posts

Ahhh, first post of the week on auto-pilot. It’s magic! :)

Today, we’ll do funny first dance videos. The first one was forwarded to me as an attachment. I found the Youtube version and am embedding it here. Bruddah Warren sent a link (from snotr.com) to the second one (Mahaloz Warren!). I’ve also found and embedded the Youtube version for your pleasure. Enjoy!

I kinda like that these couples took the time to spice up their first dances. As a guest, aren’t you usually bored/disinterested after the first minute of watching the couple dance? We’re not gonna do this (sorry guests!), but if you did this, what fast song would you mix in dea?

Where In Hawaii is Edward Sugimoto? - November 12, 2008

November 12th, 2008 | 1 Comment | Posted in Hawaii, Honolulu Advertiser Posts, Scenic

I sense a trend hurr. For the 3rd week in a row, we have yet another multi-week winnah. With her guess of Big Kahuna’s Marketplace in the Waikiki Shopping Plaza, snow joins the ranks with jr.Coconut Willy, HNL2LAS, and M as our multi week winners. Will a 6th member join the multi-week club this week, or will we have our first triple winner winner (winner), chicken dinner (dinner dinner)? ;) Tune in to find out son!

Columnists’ Holiday Party at the Road Runner Music Hall

November 11th, 2008 | 2 Comments | Posted in Events, Food, Hawaii, Honolulu Advertiser Posts

PSYCHE!

With a whoppin’ 7 comments on yesterday’s post (2 of which were mine!), I decided to postpone the oh so popular wedding related posts to next week (while I’m on vacation). That way, I won’t have to be in front of a computer when I cry my eyes out at the lack of comments. Haha! I keed. But seriously, let’s get back to some hard core postin’ shall we?

On Friday, we had our annual, holiday get-together with our hard workin’ AroundHawaii columnists. I always look forward to these, as I get to meet and see the faces of the eclectic bunch that I usually only communicate with via email throughout the year. This year, our attending experts, spanning such topics as surf (Sean & Lane Davey and Dean Luke), computing (Yasuo Ogawa and Kiman Wong), recipes (Liz Rizzo), golf (Danielle Tucker), real estate (Joe Segal), jewelry (Russell Oshita), finance (Jon Yamasato), local food (Grant Kawasaki), Las Vegas (Kimo Akane), style (Cathy Lee), parenting (Diane Ako), and travel (Claus Hansen), enjoyed the festivities at the Road Runner Music Hall, an amazing facility put together by the folks at Clear Channel Communications.

The prizes were compliments of Oceanic Time Warner Cable, the delicious food was catered both by Creations In Catering and the gang at Clear Channel Communications, and the entertainment was by a new group called Onward. The lead singer’s voice (Chad?) was pretty killah! Here are some scenes from the night (mahalo to Kiman Wong for the shots!)!

Shout outs!
* Mahalo to Charmaine and the gang at Creations In Catering for putting together an amazing menu for my peeps.
* Mahalo to the man Kevin Jones and the rest of the staffers at Clear Channel Communications, for helping to coordinate such a successful night!
* Mahalo to the killah reggae band Onward. You guys were awesome!
* Mahalo to Gwen, Maribel, Kiman, Alan, Noreen, Matt and everyone else at Oceanic Time Warner Cable, for helping to make this night possible!

I feel like I just won an Emmy or somethin’!

Best Man Blunder Video

November 10th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Events, Honolulu Advertiser Posts, Random

With the day of the big dance quickly approaching, let’s give these wedding-related blog posts another shot now shall we? What the heck right? After I get hitched, blogging about weddings won’t make a lot of sense das why, so let’s get it all out of our systems now right?

And even though your comment counts (on wedding related posts) tell me to do otherwise, I’ve never been a man to lose hope. In fact, since I’ll be gone for like 3 weeks or so, let’s do the improbable and go all week with a wedding blog postin’ fiesta! Yeeeee haw!

Today, I’ve just GOTSTA start us off with a video my co-worker forwarded to me recently. It’s of a best man… ah, I won’t ruin it for ya. Just watch it and laugh in delight horror. (*hint* Watch it over and over and over. OMG! It gets funnier every single time!)

Alls I know is that my best man Kelvin bettah not do this to wifey! Hahaha! Nah, junior (if you’re reading this), I guess you have decent motor skills.

Happy Monday y’all! Show this not-single-for-long man (*gulp*) some love with some comments below willya! ;)

Fave Five Friday - Cars, Cars, Cars

November 7th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Honolulu Advertiser Posts, Random

It’s almost time for me to start thinking of replacing my loyal “LoveMobile”! Here are my Fave Five Six options. If you had your choice of any car in the world, what would make your fave five? Holla atcho boy below!

  1. Toyota FJ Cruiser - I like SUVs and I like retro looks, so this is right up my alley. Too bad, da buggah is so expensive and drinks gas like watah! If/when they come out with a hybrid one, that might be the one for me…
  2. Lexus RX400h - Since I’m getting older, maybe it’s time I get a more adult-like car, while saving the environment at the same time. The only problem is that I won’t feel as safe parking it when I go ball in the more ghetto fabulous neighborhoods.
  3. Lexus IS - Fancy, sporty, young, professional, sexy… You know… all the things I’m not. :P
  4. Cadillac Escalade Hybrid - Probably unrealistic because of the pricetag, but it’s a cool looking SUV that’s Hybrid. What else do you need?
  5. Motorcycle (any) - The guy in me just wants one for kicks. I tried my friends one a few months ago and could not stop thinking about it since. Too bad the woman is banning me from getting one for now. Hopefully one day, I can convince her. *grin*
  6. Old School Jeep Wrangler fixer-upper - Probably not the smartest investment, but I’ve always had an interest in driving one of these as a fun, weekend car.

Post your list below a-ight? Happy Aloha Friday folks! Be safe and have a nice, fun weekend k? Shoots!

Looks like we’ve got ourselves another multi-week winnah in jr., after he correctly guessed Waiola’s for last week’s photo. He joins the growing list of WWE eagle eyes in HNL2LAS, M and Coconut Willy in the multiple win column. C’mon the rest of y’all! Geev um some rubs this week k!? :)
