Fave Friday: Superpowers

We’ve all dreamt it I’m sho. Having that one super power that will take us over the top. The man amongst men. The woman amongst women. Would be nice right?

Well, instead of just talking about and dreaming about it, let’s put it on paper and make it a goal. You know what they say, write down your goals and you will achieve them. Soooo, post your ideal super power below and it shall become reality. :P K, maybe not, but play along won’tcha? 8)

At first, I thought of the most logical choices:

* Flying/Teleportation: Going on a trip, anywhere in the world be sa-weet!
* Living forever: I am Team Edward after all… ;)
* Invisibility/X-Ray Vision: duh! Ya bettah axe somebody rayboyjr why. :P Joking!

But the more and more I think about it, I think my superpower would simply be to make fo’ real kine money with the wave of my hands. See, I’m easy. :P

Why? Well, because if I had an unlimited amount of cash flow, I would personally own my own jet or teleporting machine to travel. I could just buy a hyperbaric chamber to live (almost) forever. I could just pay to get an invisibility suit or x-ray goggles. Well, if they ever existed. So you see, with money out of thin air, I could just about do what I want. Muhahahaha!

I know, it ’s the root of all evil, but what they hey, we’re living in the fantasy world right now.

So what’s your superpower wish? Post it below and I’ll buy it for ya! ;)

Need some ideas? Check out this listing from Wikipedia!

Happy VH07V Friday y’all! Have a great weekend!

P.S. Tomorrow night, the UH Rainbow Men’s Basketball Team takes on Cal Poly at 8PM at the Stan Sheriff Center in the Oceanic Time Warner Cable sponsored ESPN Bracketbuster game. Oceanic will be passing out an eco-friendly tote bag for the first 2,000 fans. Come on down if you can! (The Wahine are also in action earlier that night, taking on La Tech at 5PM.) Go Bows! :)

Manswers Monday: Non-Alcoholic Beer

OK, folks. Mixin’ it up again and trying something new here. With one of the most entertaining/hilarious shows on TV (at least for me) back for its second season, I thought it’d be fun to do a little Manswers Monday trivia, in honor of Manswers on Spike TV (Oceanic Channel 76 or Digital Channel 559 8) ).

As I’m not really sure how open y’all are to risque topics (e.g. 58008 LOL!), I’ll start with a rather tame one. :P

How many non-alcoholic beers would it take to get drunk?

Here are some tidbits from the show to help:

WARNING: Excessive alcohol consumption is dangerous and could kill you. Don’t do it, dude!
Non-alcoholic beer is made just like regular beer. After the beer has been brewed, the alcohol is removed by heating it up to alcohol’s boiling point, where the alcohol then evaporates. However, this will not remove all the alcohol. It leaves about 1/2 of 1% (.5%), which is about 1/8th the strength of near beer. According to the University of Oklahoma, 15 “non-alcoholic” beers will give an average guy a blood alcohol level of .02% (.08% is considered legally drunk).

Don’t you just love how they make it all scientific? So funny, yet so ridiculous! Ahahahaha!

Talk to me!
* How many non-alcoholic beers do YOU think it takes to get drunk? Don’t cheat and watch the online video! ;)
* Are you open to chatting about some of the more “racier” topics from this show?
* What other shows do you want me to watch and dish about. Please don’t say Top Chef. :P
* Do you drink or have you ever drank non-alcoholic beer? Why? 8)
* What is your favorite regular kine beer?
* Anyone catch the Ultimate Fighter Finale fights? Thoughts on Kimbo Slice’s performance? Thoughts on other fights?
* Y’all ready and excited for BJ Penn’s fight this Saturday at UFC 107?
* How’s your Monday and week looking so far?

Survey Thursday – Email?

Back in the glory days of the web, us peeps with email addresses were few and far between. As students, we  were hooked up with one by default (with an ugly @uhunix.uhcc.hawaii.edu suffix), but that was back when we had to log into a UNIX shell and check it via a program called Pine. Good lord! uhunix? Pine!? I’m choking myself up with all the memories! LOL!

Nowadays, every Bill, Sergey, and Jerry Tom, Dick and Harry has an email account from such free services as Hotmail, Gmail and Yahoo! Heck, even my momma has not one, but three that is checked on the regular. ISPs like us, offer accounts as part of our services: up to 10 accounts per Road Runner customer (via the sexy @hawaii.rr.com domain :P ) to be exact.

Whereas this question would’ve been “Do you have an email account?” in a past WWE column in the Ka Leo, today, I gotsta up my game and stay current with what’s happening on the world wide interwebs. Errrbody pretty much has email. It’s just a matter of provider. With that said…

* Which service do you use for email and why?

I’m a Gmailer fo sho. Their flexibility with forwarding, filtering, sorting, account management, header privacy, etc. is off the chain! There’s no comparison. And I didn’t even mention the searching aspect! Plus my account ties in nicely to the billion other Google “products” I use. I honestly don’t know how/if I’d survive without my Gmail and Google Calendar. Scary!

K, your turn! Share, share!

Have a good weekend y’all! Das right! I get tomorrow off. Wahoooooooo!

Survey Thursday – Are You a Fan of UH Men’s Basketball?

* Are you a fan of the University of Hawaii Men’s Basketball program? More importantly, are you going to the game this Saturday?

I know, I know. It’s hard to be one after a gut-wrenching loss to Nevada last Saturday at home (*crossing my fingers for their nationally televised matchup against Fresno State today*)… but now, there’s more reason to come support the ‘Bows this Saturday at 7:05PM at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Not only is it the second to the last home game for the season (wipe back those tears!), it is the big Oceanic Time Warner Cable sponsored game! *grin* The first 1,000 fans through the gates gets a blue, eco-friendly Oceanic/ESPNU/Food Network/HGTV bag… great for grocery shopping! Check-check-check it out!

Get your eco-friendly Oceanic Time Warner Cable bag at this Saturday's game!

Columnists’ Holiday Party at the Road Runner Music Hall

PSYCHE!

With a whoppin’ 7 comments on yesterday’s post (2 of which were mine!), I decided to postpone the oh so popular wedding related posts to next week (while I’m on vacation). That way, I won’t have to be in front of a computer when I cry my eyes out at the lack of comments. Haha! I keed. But seriously, let’s get back to some hard core postin’ shall we?

On Friday, we had our annual, holiday get-together with our hard workin’ AroundHawaii columnists. I always look forward to these, as I get to meet and see the faces of the eclectic bunch that I usually only communicate with via email throughout the year. This year, our attending experts, spanning such topics as surf (Sean & Lane Davey and Dean Luke), computing (Yasuo Ogawa and Kiman Wong), recipes (Liz Rizzo), golf (Danielle Tucker), real estate (Joe Segal), jewelry (Russell Oshita), finance (Jon Yamasato), local food (Grant Kawasaki), Las Vegas (Kimo Akane), style (Cathy Lee), parenting (Diane Ako), and travel (Claus Hansen), enjoyed the festivities at the Road Runner Music Hall, an amazing facility put together by the folks at Clear Channel Communications.

The prizes were compliments of Oceanic Time Warner Cable, the delicious food was catered both by Creations In Catering and the gang at Clear Channel Communications, and the entertainment was by a new group called Onward. The lead singer’s voice (Chad?) was pretty killah! Here are some scenes from the night (mahalo to Kiman Wong for the shots!)!
